Spring Season is Almost Here!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Pastor Frank Sansone @ 11:08 pm

On Saturday, May 19, the Green Machine will venture oudoors again as we begin our 2007 Spring Outdoor Season at Crown.

We have added some new players and we are back outside where it all began.  I am looking forward to a good season.  We have some pretty stiff competition this season, but I think that we are up for the challenge.

To do well, we are going to have to work together, to communicate with each other, to be aggressive and give it our all, and to practice hard.

I have updated the schedule – linking to Crown’s version (which shows all of the other games as well) and making a page with just our schedule.  Since the information is already publicly accessible via Crown’s site, I have removed the password protection from the schedule page.  I will, however, continue with the practice of only using first names in any game reports or pictures.

If you have not already taken the time to refresh you memory about offsides, please do so by clicking on the “Playing Tips” tag on the side of the blog.

I am looking forward to a good season.  See you on Saturday.

Game Report – 12/16 – Green Machine defeats Riptide 8-7

Filed under: Game Reports — Pastor Frank Sansone @ 1:14 am

Tonight the Green Machine took on Riptide for our third game of the indoor season.  Mr. Andy Nock took over as coach for the night as my children had a Christmas program at their school this evening.

Boone’s mom emailed me with the information from the game.   Below is a slightly edited version of that report.

The game started out slow as the Green Machine only had six players at the start – Boone, Curtis, Allie, Natalie, Kelsey and Alexis.  We were down 3-0 but the team played tough without breaks and fought back and Jacob R. showed up and a few minutes later Jacob C. showed up and finally Richie.  They played their hearts out and won the game 8-7.  To say they were happy would be putting it mildly.

Tonight was definately a team effort, no one player played better , they all did their jobs and with some more practice I think they’ll continue to get stronger each week.   Curtis and Jacob R. shared the goalie duties and played offense when not in goalie, Richie, Alexis, Kelsey  and Allie played defense,  and Natalie, Jacob C.  and Boone played offense.

The breakdown of the goals was Natalie – 1, Jacob R. – 1, Jacob C. – 2, and Boone – 4.

Good job, Green Machine.  I am proud of you.

We have practice on Tuesday night at 6:00 at Crown.  Please make plans to be there if you can.

If any parents every have pictures from any of the games, I would love to be able to get copies of pictures so that I can post them up here on Soccer Scribbles.  Feel free to email them to me at sansone @ hardingville.com (remove the spaces on both sides of the @ sigh).

Thank you Coach Andy for taking over tonight.  Good job Coach Andy and the team :) .

Indoor season has begun – Site updated

Filed under: Uncategorized — Pastor Frank Sansone @ 10:51 am

The Green Machine has begun our indoor soccer season over at Crown Sports Center.  There are a lot of differrences between outdoor and indoor soccer, but we are looking forward to a great time of fun and competition during the indoor soccer season.

We started off the first game a little rough against Rapid Fire, falling 13-4.  I think that the differences in the speed, style of play and level of competition made this first game particularly difficult.  (We also were missing a couple of players.)  I was encouraged that we did show improvement in the second half of the game.

For our second game, we played a team called Kelly’s Heroes.  After jumping out to a quick lead and leading by the score of 5 – 2 at one point, Kelly’s Heroes managed to put together three quick goals in succession near the end of the game to earn the tie.  We played much better in this game overall.  Goals were scored by Jacob R., Boone, and Jacob C.  and Curtis, Ryan, Jacob R., and Josiah all did a good job at stopping many of the shots from the opposing team.  Kelsey has shown herself to be very aggressive out on the field and I am hoping for that aggressive to be contagious.

We need to work on staying in our areas.  (Have I heard that before?)  When we do get the ball away from the other team on defense, it seems as though we keep giving it right back to the other team.

We have a game this Friday at 7:00 p.m.  I will not be able to be there do to my children’s Christmas program at school.  If someone wants to take pictures and/or write up a report about this coming game, I would value the contribution to the site.

Keep Kickin’

Soccer Party and Note

Filed under: Uncategorized — Pastor Frank Sansone @ 2:25 am

On Saturday, November 11, the Green Machine met at Fellowship Baptist Church for our end of the year get together.  We had a good time as we played a game of Big Ball Soccer and then ate hoagies and snacks.  We also saw a short presentation of some of the pictures that had been taken of the team during the year – although technical difficulties made the presentation less that I had hoped.

Certificates were also given to the team members as part of the event.  Below are some pictures taken during the end of the year get together.

(I am sorry it has taken so long to get these pictures up on this site.  As most of you are aware, I am currenly in Illinois where my mother is in critical condition in the hospital.  Please pray for my mom if you would.)

I have some other pictures to post from this activity and will do so shortly.

I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

A Note About the End of the Year Get Together

Filed under: Uncategorized — Pastor Frank Sansone @ 4:05 pm

I mentioned in a previous email that we will be having an “End of the Year Get Together” for the Green Machine.  I also posted some of this information previously on this Soccer Scribbles Blog at www.soccerscribbles.wordpress.com, but I will add a few details and send this out via email and post it to make sure that everyone gets it.

I would appreciate it if everyone would hit “reply” to the email that I sent and let me know if you are coming and approximately how many from your family will be coming so that I can plan better.

We will be having our “End of the Year Get Together” this coming Saturday, November 11 from 2:00 p.m. to around 4:30 p.m.

Planned activities include:

A Parent-Children Soccer Game using a 2 foot ball (weather permitting).  (We may also play some “Two Ball Soccer” if time permits.)_

A Projected Presentation with pictures from the year.

A time of food – Missy and I will supply some Large Hoagies (Subs) and the drinks.  We are asking that everyone else bring sides, chips, or desserts to go with the subs.

In trying to figure out a location, I was not sure if we could fit everyone at our house and a strictly outdoor location would be risking it if it were cold or raining, so I have decided to host this at our church’s building – Fellowship Baptist Church.  (Directions and a map can be found at the Directions Page of Fellowship Baptist Church - here)  This will give us plenty of space for eating and spreading out and the projector and screen are already on site.  It also gives us a field area that we can use for the soccer game.  I hope this is alright for everyone.  (It also is a lot closer to most of the team than our house.)

The church building is located at 1308 Robins Avenue – just off of Snow Hill Road near the Holly Center and Marley Manor apartments.

BUSINESS 13 DIRECTIONS

From the South

Take Business 13 North to College Avenue and turn right onto College Avenue.  Go to Snow Hill Road and turn right onto Snow Hill Road.  Go to Robins Avenue and turn right (Robins Avenue is just past the Holly Center).  The church is on Robins Avenue on the right side about 1/4 mile up.

From the North

BUSINESS 13 Directions

Same as above, except you will be taking a left onto College Avenue if you are coming from the North.

BYPASS DIRECTIONS

Take the Route 13 Bypass to the Snow Hill Road exit and head towards Salisbury.  Take a left onto Robins Avenue (just past Marley Manor) and the church is on Robins Avenue on the right side about 1/4 mile up.
